Week 1 MTC

Hey there week 1 at the MTC has been amazing! Absolutely loving everything here, my companion is great, district is great, and ive already learned so much and come closer to Christ and its only been 1 week which is crazy to think! But it gets me so excited to think of how much more ill grow in these upcoming 2 years. So my P-Days here are gonna be on Tuesdays. My companion is Elder Gillette. Yeah like the fusion proglide razors but no relation haha. Hes a cool guy hes a fresh 19 just graduated from HS and is from Kirksville, Missouri. And theres no doubt in my mind that we werent meant to be paired up together.  Funny story about us, our 2nd day we were talking about how we didnt want any leadership positions because that just meant more meetings and responsibilities. Well that night our Branch President interviews everyone 1 by 1 and then picks us to be zone leaders and we were just like of course haha. But it was funny and were enjoying it. Its cool cause we get to do leadership meetings with the branch presidency and so thats cool we get to learn from them. But week 1 has just been a lot of spending time in our classroom learning and practicing teaching, then we get to play ball for an hour a day which is a life saver but the MTC has lame rules like you can only play 3 on 3 and it has to be half court but luckily most the guys in our district like to play ball so we all hoop together and its dope. We got to experience the solar eclipse yesterday so that was dope too ill attach some pics. The new buildings here and all the artwork in them is so beautiful! I love the paintings they have here, one of the teachers here told us each painting is about $15,000. Ill attach an image of one theyre really cool. But yeah the whole area with the flowers and glass windows its all so pretty. But spiritually ive grown so much and am so happy and excited to get into the field. After being here I cant see why anyone wouldnt want to serve a mission, you learn and grow so much and then being able to share it with others and be able to have the impact to change their entire lives is such a beautiful blessing. The guys and sisters in my district are all really cool and were all really close. 2nd day here one of the elders got really sick and kept throwing up even when his stomach was empty so he was laying in bed and missing the classes as well as his companion. I told him we could give him a blessing if he'd like and so we did. His comp gave the blessing and it was his first time. He was fine the rest of the day and made it to all his classes and was eating again when we went to dinner. It was a testimony to all us that the power of the priesthood is true. Half our district is going to Colorado and the other half is going to Kansas. Sunday night Kenneth Cope gave our devotional and then afterward we watched a talk by Elder Bednar called "The Character of Christ" and that was the best talk ive ever heard. Totally made you want to forget yourself and focus on others and not yourself. Main thing i got out of is was that this mission is not about me. And i cant wait to get out to Colorado and serve the people and love them.

 Love y'all ❤
